Good communication is the foundation of any relationship, including our professional relationships. ItÂs certainly true we communicate all day long, both with and without words. In fact, the majority of messages we give are nonverbal. This includes our body language, facial expressions, gestures, and eye contact.
In any work situation, the ability to understand and use nonverbal communication is a necessary skill. It can help you build relationships with others, express your thoughts clearly, and help you navigate difficult or challenging situations.
This course will help you begin to strengthen your nonverbal actions by evaluating ten communication events. This evaluation period will give you an idea of what you aÂre doing well and what you need to improve. In addition, by paying attention to your nonverbal behaviors, you wiÂll be more conscious of what you aÂre doing, and as a result will naturally start to develop your capabilities.

Understanding Body Language
Being able to read another personÂs body language is a good skill to have. When we can accurately understand the messages revealed by a personÂs body language, we have additional information regarding what the person may be thinking or feeling. This additional information helps us adjust how we deliver our messages to communicate effectively, as well as to develop strong, collaborative relationships with others.
This course will help you make a conscious effort to observe someoneÂs body language each day for two weeks. Doing this consistently for a two week timeframe will help strengthen your ability to become aware of and assess the body language of the people you interact with.
